Justices said cities must keep opened streets reasonably safe, and a jury will likely decide whether Topeka knew about the pothole and is liable for the driver's injuries.

4. Chuck E. Cheese Parent CEC Entertainment to Close Underperformin (gurufocus.com) — Chuck E. Cheese's parent company has been closing underperforming locations, including a store in Topeka as part of a nationwide restructuring. The company plans to shutter 250 restaurants by mid-2026 while investing heavily in renovations and a new Chuck's Arcade concept to win back customers who grew up with the brand.
   

5. Pediatric emergency department visits increase in Kansas for respiratory illness (ksnt.com) — Kansas health officials in Topeka report a noticeable rise in pediatric emergency visits for respiratory illnesses, with especially high levels of enterovirus D68 detected in several counties. Families across Kansas are urged to focus on hygiene, indoor air quality, and vaccinations, while healthcare providers are asked to watch for rare complications like acute flaccid myelitis and report suspected cases promptly.
