Board members praised stronger finances, infrastructure plans, and a growing dual-credit program that’s helping nearly 30% of Frankfort High graduates earn free associate degrees.

2. Distillery hosting Great Buffalo Chase 2.5K on July 4 (state-journal.com) — A July 4 Great Buffalo Chase 2.5K fun run at Buffalo Trace Distillery will raise money for Frankfort’s VFW Post 4075, with all registration proceeds benefiting the post. Runners are urged to wear over-the-top patriotic costumes, compete for prizes and raffles, and can register online before the July 2 deadline.

3. Kentucky Tourism is breaking records (lanereport.com) — In Frankfort, Gov. Andy Beshear joined tourism leaders at The Ashbrook Hotel to celebrate a record $14.6 billion tourism impact for 2025, supporting nearly 97,000 jobs statewide. Officials highlighted bourbon, parks, main streets and new tourism investments as key drivers, and touted the “New Kentucky Home” initiative to keep visitors and workers coming to communities like Frankfort.

4. Should Kentuckians be worried about ‘gas pump screw scams?' (wkyt.com) — Frankfort-based state officials are warning Kentuckians to watch for new scams that could let thieves piggyback on your gas pump transaction, even though no cases have been confirmed in Kentucky yet. Experts from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Better Business Bureau urge you to use credit cards, verify pumps start at zero, get a receipt, and quickly report anything suspicious.

5. Kentucky governor reverses budget cuts amid surplus (fox56news.com) — From the Capitol in Frankfort, Gov. Andy Beshear says he’s reversing some recently announced budget cuts to foster care, Medicaid and TANF after identifying unused funds and debt-service savings. He plans to protect services for thousands of children and families while still adding to Kentucky’s rainy day fund, setting up a likely showdown with Republican legislative leaders.
