Laurel County Traffic Checkpoint Arrest (clayconews.com) ā Deputies using a new mobile drug-testing device arrested a driver at a Laurel County checkpoint on McWhorter Road, about eight miles east of London. The 51-year-old faces multiple charges, including DUI and meth possession, after suspected drugs and paraphernalia were found. He was taken to Laurel County Correctional Center, with several deputies assisting at the scene.

London Mayor Randall Weddle pleads not guilty to felony campaign finance charges (kentucky.com) ā London Mayor Randall Weddle has pleaded not guilty in Laurel County Circuit Court to four felony counts tied to alleged excessive campaign contributions, while lawyers argue over whether the case should stay in Laurel County or move to Frankfort. State prosecutors say the donations, made while Weddle was abroad, exceeded legal limits, but his attorney maintains he did not knowingly violate campaign finance law. Ā Ā Ā

Grand jury clears officer in fatal shooting at wrong address - The Advocate-Messenger (amnews.com) ā Kentucky State Police have released findings on a December 2024 London Police shooting at the wrong Vanzant Road address in Laurel County, where resident Douglas Harless was killed. Senate to suspend impeachment trial against Lexington judge ā for now (lpm.org) ā A state senator from London, Brandon Storm, has filed a resolution to pause the impeachment proceedings against Lexington Judge Julie Muth Goodman while Kentuckyās Judicial Conduct Commission pursues its own investigation.
