Cleanup crews at the Department of Energy's Paducah Site have begun segmenting nearly 500 large fissile converters in the C‑337 building, marking a major new phase after earlier equipment removals. Federal project leaders say the safe dismantling work shows growing momentum toward long‑term cleanup and could help position the Paducah facility for future redevelopment opportunities. • Electric utility shares plan to keep coal-fired plant with regulators

A proposed hyperscale data center at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant site is one of only five major projects still advancing as Big Rivers Electric maps out its long‑term power strategy. The utility plans to keep coal and gas plants running past 2050, citing reliability, while also weighing future carbon rules and growing interest from data center developers across western Kentucky.
