📰 News we're reading

1. Baptist Health Paducah seeks to make annual flu vaccination convenient

Paducah residents can now get walk-in flu shots at Baptist Health Paducah Community Pharmacy on Kentucky Avenue, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pharmacy also offers several other vaccines, and most insurance plans typically cover flu shots, often with no copay. Health leaders urge getting vaccinated in September or October before flu activity increases. (wpsdlocal6.com)

2. River Discovery Center: Goose no longer on the loose

Paducah's River Discovery Center has been reunited with Connie, the beloved concrete porch goose that briefly went missing from its South Water Street entrance. Paducah police say she was found abandoned at the farmers' market and held for safekeeping before staff picked her up. The center is still inviting tips from anyone who saw what happened during her disappearance window. (wpsdlocal6.com)

3. Clymer, Bray face off at judge executive candidate forum

Paducah residents heard Mayor George Bray and Judge Executive Craig Clymer clash over experience, annexation, taxes, and housing at a packed Chamber of Commerce forum. The two candidates for McCracken County judge executive outlined sharply different leadership styles and approaches to city–county cooperation, especially on growth around Paducah, the E-911 system, and how to manage major new economic projects coming to the area. 4. Paducah man arrested after allegedly trying to arrange meeting with a minor

Paducah police arrested a 36-year-old local man after he allegedly sent explicit photos and tried to arrange a sexual encounter with someone he believed was a 13-year-old boy. The meeting was set up at a business on James Sanders Boulevard after communications with a group that tracks suspected child predators. He now faces felony charges related to using electronic means to target a minor. (westkentuckystar.com)

5. $85 million in federal grant funding secured for Somerset Northern bypass project

A major new federal grant for Somerset's Northern Bypass could eventually benefit Paducah by completing a faster east–west corridor across southern Kentucky. State officials say the $85 million INFRA grant will extend the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway, improving safety and freight movement. That corridor is expected to strengthen economic links for communities from Paducah all the way to Pikeville. (kentuckytoday.com)
