1. Your Weekend Pass for April 17-19 (spectrumnews1.com) — Downtown Pikeville will be packed this weekend as Hillbilly Days runs Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., offering food, music, and family fun. It’s part of a huge statewide roundup of concerts, festivals, and sports from Louisville to Bowling Green and beyond, but Pikeville’s celebration is one of the biggest draws in eastern Kentucky.
   

2. Western Kentucky coal communities can apply for federal program (weku.org) — Pikeville is highlighted as a beneficiary of federal mine-land revitalization money, which helped establish the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center at Pikeville Medical Center. The story also notes that Pikeville-based coal producer Clintwood JOD LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, with laid-off workers suing for back pay and benefits as Kentucky coal jobs continue to decline.

ALICE COOPER Launches Spring 2026 ‘Alice's Attic' U.S. Tour With New Guitarist ANNA CARA In San Antonio (metaladdicts.com) — Alice Cooper is bringing his ‘Alice’s Attic’ tour to Pikeville’s Appalachian Wireless Arena on April 24, giving local rock fans a chance to see his new guitarist Anna Cara in action. The show is part of a busy U.S. run before Cooper heads back to Las Vegas and then on to major European festivals this summer.
   

4. Ella Langley Becomes The First Female Country Artist Ever To Hold Billboard's Top Two Streaming Songs (whiskeyriff.com) — Pikeville fans will get a chance to see Ella Langley live when her Dandelion Tour hits Appalachian Wireless Arena on July 23, 2026. She’s riding massive national success, with two country songs holding Billboard’s top streaming spots and a record-breaking run for her hit “Choosin’ Texas.” Expect a high-energy show backed by rising openers.
   

5. Belfry holds off Pikeville (news-expressky.com) — Pikeville High’s Lady Panthers came up just short in a wild 8-7 loss to Belfry in the 15th Region All “A” Classic softball semifinals. After trailing by four runs in the seventh, Pikeville rallied for three and had the tying run driven in on a sacrifice before Belfry’s pitcher ended the comeback with a strikeout.
