Itās part of a huge statewide roundup of concerts, festivals, and sports from Louisville to Bowling Green and beyond, but Pikevilleās celebration is one of the biggest draws in eastern Kentucky.

Western Kentucky coal communities can apply for federal program (weku.org) ā Pikeville is highlighted as a beneficiary of federal mine-land revitalization money, which helped establish the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center at Pikeville Medical Center. The story also notes that Pikeville-based coal producer Clintwood JOD LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, with laid-off workers suing for back pay and benefits as Kentucky coal jobs continue to decline.

Sheās riding massive national success, with two country songs holding Billboardās top streaming spots and a record-breaking run for her hit āChoosinā Texas.ā Expect a high-energy show backed by rising openers.

5. Belfry holds off Pikeville (news-expressky.com) ā Pikeville Highās Lady Panthers came up just short in a wild 8-7 loss to Belfry in the 15th Region All āAā Classic softball semifinals. After trailing by four runs in the seventh, Pikeville rallied for three and had the tying run driven in on a sacrifice before Belfryās pitcher ended the comeback with a strikeout.
