Kentucky family's legacy lives on through organ donation (fox56news.com) — A longtime Clark County family with deep ties to Winchester is using their own organ donation journey to encourage more local residents to register as donors. Retired Judge Jeffrey Walson received a lifesaving kidney from his son Jake, a Winchester police detective, years after his late father helped build Kentucky’s donor registration system. Their story underscores how a simple driver’s license signature can save multiple lives.

3. Daniel Boone National Forest announces fire restrictions (wkyt.com) — If you’re heading from Winchester into Daniel Boone National Forest, be aware that most open fires and campfires are now banned outside developed recreation areas because of high fire danger. Only Forest Service grills or fire rings in official campgrounds, plus fuel stoves and covered charcoal grills, are allowed until conditions improve.
