Baker officers say the gunfire appears tied to a small group, possibly including people from outside the city, but residents are increasingly worried about safety. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and urging anyone with information to come forward.
   

• LSP: Two dead after fatal crashes in separate parishes (louisianafirstnews.com) — State police say a Baker resident, 42-year-old Gary White, died after his scooter collided with a car on LA 64 in Livingston Parish when another driver failed to yield. Earlier that day, a separate single-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish claimed a White Castle man’s life. Both investigations remain open as troopers review what led to the deadly wrecks.
