Man sentenced to life in prison for Denham Springs murder (wbrz.com) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2016 Denham Springs shooting off Pete’s Highway that left 24-year-old Derick Stewart dead. Jurors saw home surveillance video and heard recorded jail calls before unanimously convicting him of second-degree murder, leading to a life term without parole.
   

2. Grants of $34,500 bring America 250 projects to 23 Louisiana parishes (donaldsonvillechief.com) — Denham Springs will host “The Art of Early Louisiana,” a community humanities experience at Seventh Ward Elementary funded by a $1,000 America 250 mini-grant. The project is one of 23 statewide efforts supported by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with local history, art, and education.
   

3. Food is medicine: Aetna's mobile pantry arrives at Open Health Care Clinic in effort to combat chronic conditions caused by food insecurity (livingstonparishnews.com) — Aetna’s mobile “Food Is Medicine” pantry, which has already stopped in Denham Springs, is distributing free, health-focused groceries through Open Health Care Clinic and partners to help Louisianans manage conditions like diabetes and hypertension. The tour continues across the state, pairing food boxes with basic health checks and information to reach people where they are.
   

4. Three Southeastern students compete at Miss Louisiana Pageant (an17.com) — A Denham Springs native, Miranda Sensat, will represent Southeastern Louisiana University at the Miss Louisiana Pageant in Monroe June 18–20, competing for scholarships and a shot at Miss America. Two other Southeastern students from Ponchatoula and Sunshine will also vie for the statewide crown, with the final night televised in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
