2. Miss Venable, Mancheski to exchange wedding vows October 24 in New Orleans (northsidesun.com) — A Metairie family is celebrating as Caroline Daye Venable becomes engaged to Max Christian Mancheski, whose parents and grandparents live in Metairie. Forecasters expect a break by afternoon and more typical late-summer weather through the holiday weekend, but they urge Metairie residents to keep an eye on street flooding whenever storms flare up.
   

4. New Orleans gas stations with the cheapest gas for Labor Day (wdsu.com) — Metairie drivers heading out for Labor Day weekend can save a bit at the pump, with Shell on West Metairie Avenue among the cheaper options in Jefferson Parish. The roundup also highlights low prices at Sam's Club on Airline Drive and several New Orleans and Northshore stations, giving you choices if you're crossing the metro area for holiday travel.
   

5. Jefferson Parish math teacher arrested, accused of indecent behavior with a minor (nola.com) — A Jefferson Parish math teacher working at East Jefferson High School in Metairie was arrested in an online sting and booked with indecent behavior with a juvenile, according to Kenner police. Authorities say a school resource officer recognized him from a public post, and police are urging Metairie-area parents to closely monitor children's online activity and messaging apps.
