The board also expanded school-based health services to NJH, accepted major grants for math, literacy, and wellness, and clarified employee pay with new stipends for specialized classrooms and club sponsors.

2. NPSO detectives arrest Natchitoches man in April homicide investigation (natchitochesparishjournal.com) — Natchitoches Parish detectives have charged 21-year-old Tyvion L. Hooper of Natchitoches with second-degree murder and related offenses in the April shooting death of 18-year-old Damarion Lewis on Independence Drive. Investigators are still piecing together what happened and are asking anyone with tips or home surveillance footage to contact the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau.

3. Natchitoches announces construction will start soon on Second Street & Touline Street (kalb.com) — Major street work in downtown Natchitoches will close sections of Second and Touline streets starting Wednesday, June 17, as crews replace deteriorated pavement and underground water, sewer, and drainage lines. Drivers will need to detour and move parked cars off these blocks during each phase, but utility service should mostly stay on while this $2.3 million state-supported project is completed.

4. Oklahoma man in custody related to online exploitation of Natchitoches Parish juvenile (natchitochesparishjournal.com) — Natchitoches Parish deputies have secured felony warrants against an Oklahoma man accused of online exploitation involving a local juvenile, following a detailed High Tech Crime Bureau investigation. Sheriff Stuart Wright urges parents to closely monitor children’s internet use, report suspicious contacts immediately, and contact NPSO if they have information that could help identify additional victims.

5. NPSO utilizes all-terrain equipment to recover disabled senior citizens' vehicle near Marthaville (westcentralsbest.com) — A senior couple from Zwolle turned to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office after their vehicle became stuck on a rough private road near Marthaville while driving to Natchitoches. Deputies later used all‑terrain equipment to locate the disabled car, after previously helping the couple safely reach their Natchitoches home.
