New Orleans Fire Department moving to new $12 million headquarters (wgno.com) — New Orleans has opened a new $12 million Fire Department headquarters at 401 City Park Avenue, the first relocation in more than a century. The 20,000-square-foot facility consolidates administration and 24-hour operations, adds an emergency operations center, and gives firefighters modern spaces to work, train, and rest as the city upgrades its public safety infrastructure.
   

2. New Orleans RTA names three CEO finalists, one with local ties and two from out-of-state. (nola.com) — New Orleans' Regional Transit Authority has narrowed its CEO search to three finalists, including one veteran with deep RTA and Xavier University ties and two out-of-state transit leaders. The board may host a public forum with the candidates before choosing who will oversee streetcars, buses, ferries, and paratransit for more than 13 million annual riders.
   

3. City of New Orleans announces Deputy Director of Public Works (wdsu.com) — New Orleans has hired longtime state transportation official Scott Boyle as Deputy Director of Public Works, putting him in charge of roadway lights, traffic signals, and streets and sidewalks. Working under infrastructure chief Steve Nelson, Boyle brings three decades of DOTD experience that could shape how quickly and effectively the city maintains critical transportation infrastructure.
   

4. Proposed fee increase for New Orleans Carnival krewes OK'd by City Council committee (fox8live.com) — New Orleans officials are advancing a new three-tier "Carnival Gap Adjustment" fee on Mardi Gras krewes to help close a roughly $4 million Carnival budget shortfall. The proposal, backed by a City Council committee, would add about $5–$14 per rider while raising an estimated $265,000, and now heads to the full council for a vote.
   

5. Arrest made after man killed in Bourbon Street shooting, witnesses describe chaos (wdsu.com) — An early-morning shooting near Bourbon and Conti streets in New Orleans left one man dead, but police say a suspect is already under arrest. Witnesses described a chaotic, terrifying scene, and officials note that while violent crime is down overall, recent incidents on Bourbon and nearby Canal Street are keeping safety concerns in focus.
