• Oakdale Journal Public Notices July 23, 2026 (allenparishtoday.com) — Allen Parish has released the official list of 250 people called for criminal jury service beginning Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Oberlin, and many listed jurors live in Oakdale. If you’re an Oakdale resident, it’s worth scanning the names and addresses to see if you or someone you know has been summoned for this upcoming term of court. 
• New council members elected (avma.org) — Oakdale veterinarian Dr. Rachel Cezar-Martinez has been elected to the AVMA Council on Veterinary Service, representing private equine practice at the national level. Her selection, alongside colleagues from across the country, gives Oakdale a direct voice in shaping veterinary service and animal-care policy within one of the profession’s most influential organizations.
• ICE tells WTJX it is not currently seeking proposals for a secure housing facility on St. Thomas (wtjx.org) — A recent federal procurement document mentioned Oakdale among possible sites in a sample list of immigration detention projects, but ICE now says the document was only a paper exercise to vet contractors. Officials stress it is not an active plan to build or expand facilities at any of the listed locations, including Oakdale, at this time.
