1. Annual Tea Celebrating Deaf Culture to Take Place September 17 (maine.gov) — An annual Deaf Culture Week tea and awards ceremony is coming to the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta on September 17, open to all residents. The event kicks off a statewide Deaf Culture Week proclaimed by Governor Janet Mills and will honor several Mainers and organizations for their contributions to Deaf culture, advocacy, and accessibility.
   

2. Man accused of shooting multiple Maine substations released after medication change (wmtw.com) — Augusta police responded in February to gunfire at a Central Maine Power substation on Capital Street, part of a series of shootings at three substations across central Maine. The Fairfield man accused has now been released from jail after a psychiatric evaluation and medication changes, under strict conditions including electronic monitoring, treatment, employment, and a ban on firearms while he awaits a December federal trial.
   

3. American Steel & Aluminum will expand Saco facility, add jobs (mainebiz.biz subscription) — An Augusta-based firm, Lajoie Brothers Construction, is managing a 12,000-square-foot expansion of American Steel & Aluminum's Saco facility that's expected to add 30 jobs and double cutting capacity. While the new positions will be in Saco, the project highlights the role of an Augusta company in growing Maine's advanced manufacturing and defense-related supply chain.
