Scrap metal fire at Berwick junkyard producing heavy smoke (pressherald.com) — Berwick firefighters spent Thursday morning battling a scrap metal fire at Berwick Iron and Metal Recycling that sent heavy black smoke over the area. The entire department and mutual-aid engines responded, and residents were urged via social media to use caution while crews worked to contain the blaze. 
2. Fire at Berwick Iron & Metal Recycling stalls Route 236 traffic (fosters.com) — A major fire at Berwick Iron & Metal Recycling shut down sections of Route 236 Thursday morning, with traffic detoured and smoke visible from nearby towns. Berwick and mutual-aid crews expect to be on scene most of the day, and reopening times for the closed stretches of Route 236 are still unknown.
3. Noble school board candidate requests recount for Berwick seat (pressherald.com) — A close race for Berwick’s seat on the MSAD 60 school board may head to a recount after challenger Mathew Roy requested one following his loss to incumbent Peg Wheeler. The decision could shift representation for Berwick on the regional board and will require a deposit determined by the Berwick town clerk if the result stands.
4. Maine issues recall over moldy cannabis flower (pressherald.com) — If you bought Green Trap’s “Drip Burger” cannabis flower in Berwick, check your labels: a statewide recall was issued after unsafe yeast and mold levels were found in certain batches. Kind Farm Reserve in Berwick is among the affected retailers, and consumers are urged to return or safely dispose of the product and contact a doctor if they feel unwell.
