Officials say avoiding staff cuts leaves limited room to trim, while residents worry about how much more local taxpayers will shoulder ahead of key May and June budget votes.

• Aroostook County Tourism Seeks Board Members — Apply by May 18 (whoufm.com) — Residents connected to tourism and business in Caribou can now apply to serve on Aroostook County Tourism’s volunteer board, which meets monthly at the Northern Maine Development Commission office in town. Four regional seats are open, and interested applicants must submit a letter of interest by May 18 to the Caribou mailing address listed.
