• Maine DEP approves Amazon's $25M Gorham warehouse amid local backlash and legal appeal (newscentermaine.com) — State environmental regulators have approved Amazon’s proposed $25 million warehouse and distribution center in Gorham, moving the controversial project a big step closer despite strong local opposition. Residents worry about thousands of additional trucks daily, noise, lighting, flooding, and wildlife impacts, while Amazon touts more than 100 new jobs. A citizens group has already appealed the town Planning Board’s earlier approval in Superior Court.
   

• 3rd gas leak in a year at Gorham elementary school prompts investigation (pressherald.com) — Narragansett Elementary School in Gorham has experienced its third gas leak in a year, prompting district facilities staff and mechanics to launch a deeper investigation into what’s causing the recurring problem. The latest leak was discovered Sunday after someone on the athletic field smelled gas, leading Maine Natural Gas to shut off valves and repair several ventilator leaks. Classes continued as normal after officials deemed the building safe, but long-term fixes are now a priority.
