Local law enforcement and Homeless Services of Aroostook are offering rides to the Presque Isle shelter, where beds and services are available, while stressing that staying there remains each person’s choice.
   

• Victim notification system available in some Maine jails, but not statewide (wagmtv.com) — Residents should know that Aroostook County Jail in Houlton now uses the VINE system, which lets victims and families sign up for real-time alerts when someone in custody is released. Only four Maine jails currently offer VINE, so local access depends on where an offender is held, and officials are pushing for the program to expand statewide.
