Lisbon voters pass $21.6M school budget (pressherald.com) — Lisbon residents have approved a $21.6 million school budget, easing months of uncertainty after last year’s repeated rejections and recent property tax hikes. The new plan balances reduced state aid with a restrained town budget, as voters debated spending priorities, sports versus academics, and how easily residents can access information about local school finances.

2. Two in custody after Lisbon Falls shelter-in-place lifted (wgme.com) — Lisbon Falls residents were briefly told to shelter in place Wednesday night as police searched for a possibly armed person near Berry and Campus Avenue, putting the MTM Community Center in precautionary lockdown. The order was later lifted and two suspects were taken into custody, with Lisbon police promising more details after their response wrapped up safely.

3. 8 Investigates: Mainers are losing thousands of dollars in scams involving bitcoin (wmtw.com) — A Maine senior who lost about $27,000 in a romance scam says most of the money was funneled through a Bitcoin kiosk tucked in the back of a Lisbon Falls laundromat, which has since been shut down. State regulators warn that many crypto ATM transactions target older Mainers, and new rules now cap fees, limit daily amounts, and hold operators more accountable.

High schools Thursday: Oxford Hills baseball bounces Brunswick (sunjournal.com) — Local high school playoff action included a tough day for Lisbon’s baseball team, which fell 9-5 to Maranacook after a seven-run fourth inning in Readfield, despite two hits from Spencer Franks. The roundup also highlights strong postseason performances by nearby Oxford Hills, Lewiston, Poland, Monmouth Academy and others across baseball and softball.
