• Mexico gives 2 volunteers Spirit of America award (sunjournal.com) — Two longtime community volunteers from Mexico were honored with the town’s 2026 Spirit of America awards at the June 2 Select Board meeting at the Mexico Town Office. American Legion Auxiliary President Rowena “Rena” Nichols and Select Board Chair Richie Philbrick were recognized for years of behind-the-scenes work supporting veterans, local charities, and service organizations that benefit residents across town.
