Arrest Made After Fight Sees Several People Pepper-Sprayed: Police

Police said a young person was arrested over a fight that ended with pepper spray being deployed and a weapon being waved.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — One person was arrested late Friday over a fight involving several people that ended with pepper spray being deployed and a weapon being waved, police said.

The Annapolis Police Department said the incident took place on the 700 block of Newtowne Drive, with officers being called to the area around 9:45 p.m. for an aggravated assault case.

At the scene, officers were met with an individual who said a fight had broken out among a "group" of people.

Kortlan Jackson, a spokesperson for the Annapolis Police Department, told Patch that the complainant and the individuals involved in the brawl were all below the age of 18.

He did not specify how many people were involved in the fight.

Authorities were informed that one of the individuals involved not only pepper-sprayed the group but also produced a weapon, waving it at others. No details were provided about the weapon.

Although police did not identify the person who used the pepper spray and displayed a weapon, officials did say they were arrested and "charged accordingly."

It's unclear if any of the involved persons knew one another before the fight or if they suffered any serious injuries during the incident.
