This is a drop-in style program. Visitors may join at any time during program hours and explore at their own pace through informal interaction and demonstrations.&nbsp;Advance registration recommended but not required.

Living History on Pinkney Street: Civil War First Maryland Volunteer Infantry Regiment

The Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC) will host its 6th-annual fundraiser book fair at Annapolis Mall. The fair will feature 1,000s of gently used books, including children’s books, cookbooks, bestsellers, romance novels, memoirs, mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction, and much more. Books will be priced at $2 for hardbacks, $1 for paperbacks, and $5 for new &amp; notable books of 2025/26. Shoppers can fill a special edition Literacy Council tote bag with books for $25. PayPal, Venmo, credit cards, checks, and cash will be accepted. Also at the book fair — gift basket raffles and more. In support of the event, Discoveries Library will host activities inside the library during book fair hours. Proceeds from the book fair will support the Council’s free adult tutoring programs in Anne Arundel County.

The Gampopa Center is a spiritual community, where we learn and practice the teachings (philosophy, meditation, and science of mind) of the Buddha. Our Dharma center holds a variety of spiritual practices, ranging from meditation to philosophical study and sadhana practices. Rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Gampopa Center draws on the teachings and practices of countless realized figures across many different lineages and schools of thought. When it comes to Dharma studies and activities, we consider ourselves as nonsectarian followers of the Buddha, whereby we invite Dharma teachers from all major traditions of Buddhism, to teach Dharma in ways that preserve those different traditions. However, when we are doing more serious and specific Dharma practices, we follow the Kadam masters and the Kagyu lineage of Vajrayana. The Gampopa Center is located at 1831 Forest Drive, Suite C, in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded by Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche, the center serves as a welcoming space for individuals to explore the philosophy and science of mind through the authentic teachings of the Buddha.
