No-Swim Bans Lifted At 4 Anne Arundel Co. Beaches
No-swim bans have been lifted at four beaches in Anne Arundel County's Annapolis and Edgewater areas.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A no-swim ban at four beaches in Anne Arundel County has officially been lifted by health authorities.
The lift was issued two weeks after high bacteria levels shuttered Oyster Harbor and Epping Forest beaches in Annapolis, as well as the YMCA Camp Letts and Londontown at Midland in Edgewater.

Officials had specified that all four beaches returned water samples with high enterococci levels.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says that while enterococci bacteria are not typically harmful to humans, their presence can indicate the presence of other disease-causing bacteria or pathogens in the water.

Tests at beaches in Anne Arundel County are conducted about every two weeks.
