'Beyond regrettable': Judge declares mistrial in Pasadena double murder case citing state errors (wmar2news.com) — In an Annapolis courtroom, a judge abruptly declared a mistrial in the Anthony Reyes double murder case, sharply criticizing prosecutors for errors he said threatened the defendant's rights. The case, involving a 2025 Pasadena shooting that shook Anne Arundel County, will now be reset, with a status conference scheduled later this month.
   

2. See Them First: New Sailboats Debuting in Annapolis This October (eyeonannapolis.net) — Annapolis residents can look forward to the 2026 Annapolis Sailboat Show at City Dock from October 15–18, featuring world and North American premieres of several new sailboats. From a 55-foot offshore cruising catamaran to eco-friendly aluminum cruisers and compact weekenders, the show will showcase a wide range of designs, with advance tickets available for those planning to attend downtown.
   

3. Woodson leads Navy past Towson in season opener (on3.com) — Navy kicked off its football season in Annapolis with a dominant rushing performance, piling up 506 ground yards in a 42–15 win over Towson at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Braxton Woodson ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns as coaches praised the offense but warned there's still work to do, especially in the secondary.
   

4. Governor Moore Signs Executive Order Making Maryland a Recovery-Friendly Workplace (maryland.gov) — A new executive order signed in Annapolis makes Maryland a formal "recovery‑friendly workplace," updating state employment policies to better support workers recovering from substance use disorders. For Annapolis residents, this means state agencies based here will expand training, emphasize assistance over punishment, and model practices the governor hopes private employers across Maryland will adopt to reduce overdoses and strengthen the workforce.
