ANNE ARUNDEL, MD — Whether you're picking up burgers for the grill, making one last home improvement run or grabbing coffee before enjoying the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is one of those holidays when hours can look a little different.

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, in 2026. Many stores, pharmacies and restaurants are expected to remain open, while government offices, schools, libraries and other public services will be closed.

Individual locations may adjust their Labor Day hours, and some holiday schedules may not be finalized until closer to Sept. 7. It's always a good idea to check with the business directly before heading out.

Anne Arundel Offices And Public Services

Anne Arundel County observes Labor Day as a holiday, meaning most municipal offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7. Landfills and recycling centers will also be closed. Residents can visit the official website for additional closure information, online services or details about when facilities will reopen.

Waste collection will be affected by the holiday, with Monday pickups occurring Tuesday, and Tuesday pickups occurring Wednesday. Residents can view the Holiday Collection Schedule online.

Schools And Libraries

Anne Arundel County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day, according to the district’s 2026-27 school calendar.

The Anne Arundel County Public Library will also be closed on Labor Day, according to the library’s official events calendar.
