City of Baltimore: "No Pete's Doubt" Orioles Alonso Hits 39th & 40th Homers Joins Elite HR Team Club

Pete Alonso is finishing up his 1st season in an Orioles uniform. He didn't disappointed the Orange & Black fans that attended The Yard for the '26 MLB www.mlb.com Campaign of The Birds. The O's entered last-night with almost an impossible chance of making postseason play. They were swept over the weekend by the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Playing for pride and fans shows that you are a professional.

Alonso hit two-homers for his 39th & 40th of the season. His last homer was a two-run blast in the bottom of the 8th with his team down 3-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays that gave the O's a 4-3 win. Pete's 40th homer had him join a very-elite club in Orioles history. He became only the 9th player in O's history to hit 40 homers in a season. A feat that was elusive to Oriole-greats Cal Ripken & Eddie Murray. 

The first to do it was 1B Jim Gentile in 1961. Jim had 46 homers. The next was Frank Robinson (OF) in 1966, he was amazing, Frank hit 49 homers and won the AL Triple Crown. The O's also won the '66 World Series sweeping the LA Dodgers. 30-years later it was Brady Anderson (CF) in 1996. Brady it 50 homers. 2-years later it was former 1B Rafael Palmeiro who hit 43 home runs. DH Nelson Cruz hit 40 homers in 2014, one-years after Davis (2013). 

Chris Davis (1B) hit the team's all-time record of 53 homers in 2013. 2-years later in 2015 Davis hit 47, becoming the only Oriole to hit 40+ twice. The next season in 2016 Mark Trumbo hit for same 47 homers. In 2024 former O's OF Anthony Santander hit 44 homers. Santander is now a member of the Blue Jays. He missed the entire '26 season due to injury/surgery and rehab. 

Taking a cue from the Baltimore Ravens, Best In the NFL www.nfl.com "No Purple Doubt" slogan. There's "No Pete's Doubt" of Alonzo joining the Orioles 40 home run club. The Birds have 5-games left on the regular-season, tonight and tomorrow vs Toronto. They end the '26 season this weekend on the road vs the NY Yankees.
