Baby Found Alone While 19-Year-Old Mom Went To McDonald's: Police

Police arrested a 19-year-old Aberdeen mom after they say she left her 6-month-old baby alone to meet friends at McDonald's.

ABERDEEN, MD — A 19-year-old mother has been arrested after police say she left her 6-month-old baby unattended in what officers say were "unsafe and unsanitary living conditions."

On Monday, Aberdeen police officers were called to the 600 block of West Bel Air Avenue after receiving a report that a 6-month-old had been left alone at a home. Officers arrived and found the baby unattended and in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.

With help from the Bel Air Police Department, officers located Kira Faust, who said she had left the child home alone while she went to meet friends at a McDonald’s in Bel Air.

Aberdeen Police took temporary custody of the baby, and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Aberdeen provided officers with essential baby supplies while Child Protective Services worked to secure a safe placement for the baby.

Faust has been charged with child neglect and was later released on her own recognizance.
