She's promising more collaborative, earlier budget talks with county leaders, while highlighting new programs like career-planning support at Patterson Mill in Bel Air to keep the focus on students' futures.
   

2. Harford County launches rabies vaccine program after spike in raccoon attacks (wmar2news.com) — Bel Air residents are being warned about a spike in rabies cases, with Harford County reporting the state's highest number of positive animals and several raccoon attacks on pets. To protect people and animals, the county is rolling out 15,000 oral rabies vaccine baits across local parks and woodlands, including areas like the Ma & Pa Trail that Bel Air walkers frequent daily.
   

3. Harford County Public Library offers programs on senior safety this fall (belairnewsandviews.com) — Bel Air seniors and caregivers can tap into several free safety-focused programs this fall, including a fall-prevention class and an older adult driver safety session at the Bel Air Library. Additional events in nearby Fallston, Jarrettsville, and Abingdon cover bleeding control, scam prevention, and cybersecurity, all aimed at helping older adults stay healthy, independent, and protected.
   

4. Harford County to hold 9/11 memorial at Harford County Fairgrounds Equestrian Center Sept. 11 (belairnewsandviews.com) — Bel Air residents are invited to a 9/11 memorial on Friday, Sept. 11, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Harford County Fairgrounds Equestrian Center on Tollgate Road. The ceremony will honor first responders and victims with a procession of fire, emergency, and police vehicles, plus music from Havre de Grace High School students.
   

5. Faith wins the crown (catholicreview.org) — A local John Carroll School graduate who once served as Miss Bel Air is now Miss Maryland, using her platform to promote healthy relationships among young people statewide. Her story is rooted in years at St. Margaret School and John Carroll in Bel Air, where her Catholic education and a pivotal religion class shaped both her faith and her advocacy work.
