POTOMAC, MD — Three people were hospitalized Sunday after being involved in a crash that saw a car collide with seven cars before flipping over.

Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said first responders were alerted to the crash after 1 p.m.

The incident unfolded on the 7900 block of Tuckerman Lane, at the Cabin John Village shopping center. Photos from the scene show a white Toyota flipped on its side in front of the Shake Shack eatery.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver of the vehicle had lost control "for unknown reasons," according to Piringer.

All three people who were in the car were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. Piringer did not detail the extent of the injuries but did state the driver had to be extricated from the car by first responders.

"Some occupants of other vehicles self-extricated," he said.

It's unclear how many drivers may have been in their cars when the crash took place, or if they suffered any injuries as a result.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
