Bethesda Man Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide In D.C.
The incident involving two Metro employees occurred Thursday morning in the Friendship Heights area of D.C., officials said.
WASHINGTON, DC — Two Metro employees from Montgomery County are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Washington, D.C., according to police and a report.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the incident occurred around 1 a.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of 44th Street, located in D.C.'s Friendship Heights neighborhood.
Upon arrival, officers found two men, both unconscious and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, where both men were pronounced dead.

According to police, the shooter was identified as 44-year-old Terrell Cross of Bethesda. The victim was 42-year-old Robert Stokes of Middle River.
Police classified the shooting as a domestic-related incident. According to authorities, Cross arrived at the location, shot Stokes, and then shot himself. A gun was found at the scene.

During Thursday morning’s board meeting, Metro CEO and General Manager Randy Clarke confirmed both men were employees, WTOP reported. He also said the shooting did not occur on Metro property.
“Our staff is the soul of this organization, and just very much appreciate what they do every day,” Clarke said before asking for the moment of silence.
