Goff said investigators did not have the suspected shooter in custody, and that police were canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance footage.

There is no indication the shooting was tied to the data center conference being held at the hotel, according to Goff, who also said the shooter did not use Metro Rail to leave the area.

Police have not released a description of the suspected shooter.

Residents are being urged to steer clear of the area until further notice.
