2026 July 4 Fireworks Guide For Bowie

Your guide to fireworks, parades and other July 4 celebrations of America's 250th anniversary in and around Bowie.

BOWIE, MD — Fourth of July activities in Bowie and across Prince George's County could have extra sparkle in 2026, the 250th anniversary, or semiquincentennial, of the Declaration of Independence.

The holiday falls on a Saturday in the middle of a three-day weekend, July 3-5. To help you fit it all in on your 4th of July calendar, Patch has put together a guide to fireworks and other celebrations in Bowie and the surrounding areas.

From fireworks and a live DJ in Bladensburg to field events and fireworks in Laurel, plus the highly anticipated Star Spangled Spectacular hosted by the Chesapeake Baysox, the night sky will light up for the Fourth of July holiday.

2026 Bladensburg Fireworks: A Landmark in America’s Journey

The 7th Annual Bladensburg Fireworks Celebration will be held at Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Rd., on July 2 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

DJ Flava will spin high-energy beats, there will be food trucks, pony rides, family-friendly activities, exhibits, and a fireworks finale.

2026 Laurel Independence Day Celebration

The 2026 Laurel Independence Day Celebration will be July 4 at Granville Gude Park, 8300 Mulberry St., starting at 3 p.m. with a parade.

There will be field events, music, food and fun from 3 to 6 p.m. and a variety of vendors at the park from 3 to 9 p.m. Fireworks will be held starting at approximately 9:15 p.m. Viewers can sit on the field to watch.

Chesapeake Baysox's Star Spangled Spectacular

The Chesapeake Baysox invites the community to join them for a night of live music, family activities, and a breathtaking fireworks display at their Star Spangled Spectacular.

Stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. and young fans are invited onto the field for nearly two hours of play time, including Kids Run the Bases, catch in the outfield, and an inflatable obstacle course. A face painter and balloon artist also will be on hand to add to the festivities.

The evening's concert gets underway at approximately 6:30 p.m., featuring live performances by Blues in a Blender and Honey Sol, with the Star-Spangled Banner performed by Bullpen Brass. All of your favorite ballpark concessions will be available throughout the evening. Then, as night falls, the sky above Prince George's Stadium, located at 4101 Crain Highway, will come alive with a spectacular fireworks display.

Salute to America Walk and Picnic

Join National Harbor as those who gather will walk halfway across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, salute the nation's capital and return for a free celebratory picnic in honor of America 250 at the Salute to America Walk and Picnic. Check-in for the walk begins at 10 a.m. with the walk starting at 10:30 a.m.

After the walk, return to the Harbor for a free celebratory picnic along the waterfront at 11:30 a.m. Show off your patriotic spirit for a chance to win prizes for best dressed as your favorite president or in your best red, white and blue attire. Registration is free but required. One free ticket to The Capital Wheel per registrant.

July 4th Independence Day 250 Celebration Fireworks

Celebrate America's 250th birthday with a day of activities, entertainments and fireworks in Greenbelt. There will be art activities, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the singing of the National Anthem and performances by Pocket Change and the Greenbelt Honk! Situation. The fun begins at 3 p.m. with fireworks at dusk, around 9:15 p.m.


Celebrations around the country recall not only the events leading up to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, but also look forward and aim to make the 4th of July weekend a massive, multigenerational cultural moment focused on community connections and charitable giving.

America’s Block Party, an unprecedented coast-to-coast initiative, is one of the signature events of America 250, the congressionally chartered nonprofit overseeing the semiquincentennial celebration.

A Times Square Ball Drop, a rolling series of ball drops, timed to occur at midnight on July 3 in every U.S. time zone from Guam to American Samoa, is part of the “Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show,” creating a nearly 24-hour celebration of the 250th anniversary. It’s part of the broader “Giving 4th” initiative that aims to make and establish Independence Day the biggest annual day of giving.

A time capsule will be buried in Philadelphia to be opened in 2276 on July 4. It contains a carefully curated collection of letters and artifacts reflecting the leadership, institutions, and communities that shape the country today. It will include contributions from all three branches of the U.S. federal government and submissions from each of the 50 states, Washington D.C., and five territories.

Separately, the White House’s Freedom 250’s biggest spectacles are the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, running June 25 to July 10; the July 4 Salute to America Fireworks, also on the National Mall; “Sail 4th 250,” billed as the largest-ever flotilla of tall ships from around the world in New York Harbor; and Rushmore 250, an iconic 4th of July fireworks on July 3 alongside military concerts and live presidential reenactors.
