Bowie Woman Critically Injured In Domestic-Related Shooting: Police

A woman was critically injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon at a Bowie home. Police say it was domestic-related.

BOWIE, MD — A woman was critically injured in a domestic-related shooting Thursday.

Around 4:20 p.m., Bowie police officers were called to the 8500 block of Myrtle Avenue for a report of a shooting. Police officers found a shooting victim in a bedroom of the house. The woman had been shot in the upper torso, according to police.

Officers and EMS performed life-saving measures and the victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police found and arrested the suspect, who knew the victim, at the scene. The weapon believed to have been used in the shooting also was found at the scene, the police department stated.

"Our preliminary investigation indicates this is a tragic domestic crime and there is no outstanding threat to the community," the Bowie Police Department stated.

Investigators will continue to look into the shooting.
