Suspect In Fatal Stabbing Faces Multiple Charges

A Virginia man has been arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of a Laurel man over the weekend, police report.

LAUREL, MD — The suspect wanted in a fatal stabbing that happened Saturday in Laurel has been arrested.

Laurel police officers were called to the 7800 block of Contee Road Saturday for a report of a stabbing. They found a man with multiple stab wounds. Officers provided first aid until EMTs arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries. He has been identified as Dwayne Julie, 48, of Laurel, according to police.

During the investigation, detectives determined that the victim and suspect, later identified as Samai Gayle, 26, of Arlington, Virginia, knew each other. Witnesses provided officers with information that allowed police to track Gayle who had fled the area on foot. He was found nearby and arrested. He was then taken to the hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening where he was treated and medically cleared. Officers then took him into custody.

Gayle has been charged with multiple homicide-related offenses, according to the police department.
