Woman Shot At Illegal Car Meet In Landover

A 19-year-old woman was shot at an illegal car meet early Sunday in Landover, according to Prince George's Police.

LANDOVER, MD — Detectives are investigating a shooting that happened at an illegal car meet held in the Landover area early Sunday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sept. 13, Prince George's police officers were called to the 3200 block of Hubbard Road. They found a 19-year-old woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital for treatment; her injury wasn't considered life-threatening, according to police.

The woman was at an illegal car meetup when the shooting happened. The preliminary investigation suggests a fight broke out, which sparked the shooting, the police department stated. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s).

“This shooting is yet another reminder that illegal car meetups are dangerous. The Prince George’s County Police Department is going to continue stressing this important message. I urge everyone to stop attending these potentially deadly car meetups. I also urge all parents and guardians to talk to the their teenagers and young adults, urging them to not attend these events,” said Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader.
