• Driver Killed After SUV Strikes Tree In Ellicott City: Police (patch.com) — Residents in Ellicott City may notice Ilchester Road back open after a fatal single-vehicle crash Friday night, when a northbound SUV left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene, and Howard County police are still investigating what caused the collision.
   

• Race Road Water Main Extension Project to Begin in Elkridge (einpresswire.com) — Howard County is starting a water main extension along Race Road in Elkridge, announced from Ellicott City and scheduled to begin around October 5 with completion expected by late December 2026. Drivers from Ellicott City using this corridor should expect alternating lane closures on weekdays and watch for flaggers, reduced speeds, and work zone safety signs.
   

• The National Honey Board has named the best beers (beerinfo.com) — Ellicott City's own Manor Hill Brewing earned national recognition as its sour beer "Nature's Whimsy" won a gold medal in the National Honey Board's 2026 Honey Beer Competition. The contest judged more than 150 honey-based beers from across the country, putting the local brewery in the company of top craft producers nationwide and spotlighting Ellicott City on the national beer map.
