1. Data center growth is planned west of Baltimore (baltimorefishbowl.com) — Frederick County is poised to host more hyperscale data centers than any other Maryland county, with major projects planned near Adamstown and southwest of Frederick City. Residents are pushing a referendum to challenge the county council’s zoning expansion, citing concerns over pollution, water use, noise, and proximity to schools, while supporters highlight thousands of construction jobs and significant new tax revenue.
   

2. Frederick eagerly breaks ground on new community youth center (dcnewsnow.com) — Frederick has officially broken ground on a new youth community center on Scotty’s Bus Lane, designed as a hub for teens and young adults who need support, services, and connection. Backed by the city, county, nonprofits, and the Frederick Youth Council, the center will offer resources for academics, careers, and mental health when it opens in early 2028.

Changes coming to Frederick County transit system (fredericknewspost.com) — Bus riders in Frederick County should prepare for new Connector routes, including a 15 Connector between Kingsbrook Crossing and the Transit Center and a shortened 10 Connector from Waverley to Kingsbrook. Saturday schedules will better match weekdays, rural shuttles gain weekend service, and some routes add stops like Guilford Drive’s Walmart, with full details and feedback options online.
   

4. Frederick County Public Schools want cameras in all special needs classrooms by 2030 (wypr.org) — Frederick County’s Board of Education is moving to expand a pilot program that places video-only cameras in dedicated special needs classrooms, aiming for countywide coverage by 2030. Parents could request supervised access to footage when they suspect abuse, while teachers’ unions negotiate protections, data storage limits, and yearly reviews that will determine how quickly the program grows.
