Glen Burnie Man Facing Over 20 Charges In Triple Stabbing (patch.com) — Glen Burnie residents are learning more about a violent triple stabbing after police identified 38-year-old local resident Ryan David Matthews as the suspect now facing 21 charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder and assault. Officers say they used Tasers to subdue him at a Morningside Drive home where three people were found with stab wounds, and he is being held without bond pending a September preliminary hearing.

2. Empire Towers completes first stabilization phase as vehicles remain trapped in garage (cbsnews.com) — An office building in Glen Burnie, Empire Towers, remains unsafe while about 100 vehicles are still trapped in its underground garage, even after Phase 1 of emergency stabilization finished August 14. Engineers are now installing horizontal braces in Phase 2, expected to take roughly six weeks, and management is offering $3,000 transportation payments and planning how tenants can eventually retrieve cars and belongings.

Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration Continues Push for Drivers to 'Plate Where They Live' (maryland.gov) — From its Glen Burnie headquarters, Maryland's MVA is warning residents that tougher enforcement and daily fines for cars kept on out-of-state plates begin October 1. Drivers have 45 days to get properly registered, with new cases, grace periods, and possible towing or plate seizure if they ignore the rules.

Police Press Release - August 18, 2026 (aacounty.org) — Police report that three people were stabbed during a disturbance on Morningside Drive in Glen Burnie, and all are in stable condition after hospital treatment. Officers say they used Tasers to safely arrest 38-year-old Glen Burnie resident Ryan David Matthews, who now faces multiple attempted murder, assault, and weapons charges.

Student whose dorm room VSU shooting suspect hid inside turns self in to police (wavy.com) — A 19-year-old Virginia State University student from Glen Burnie, Ja'niah Johnson, has been charged with obstruction and accessory after the fact after a shooting suspect was found hiding in her dorm room. She voluntarily returned to Virginia, turned herself in, and was released pending another court date, while police continue searching for additional suspects.
