3. 4-H Broiler Show results noted (wvnews.com) — Oakland served as the hub for this year’s 4-H/FFA Broiler Show, held at the University of Maryland Extension Garrett office and drawing 18 youth from clubs across the county. Participants raised donated chicks for eight weeks before judging, with Brenton Gnegy earning Grand Champion and Kendall Wolford taking Reserve Champion among strong junior, intermediate, and senior competitors.
   

4. New officers sworn in for Allegany/Garrett MML (wvnews.com) — Oakland residents are represented in new leadership for the Allegany/Garrett chapter of the Maryland Municipal League, with Oakland Town Council President Jay Moyer as chapter president and Town Administrator Valerie Stemac as secretary/treasurer. At the recent meeting in Loch Lynn Heights, lawmakers recapped the latest Annapolis session, touching on taxes, funding for Garrett County, and expectations for next year’s budget debates.
