This Weekend: Fairs, Festivals And An Educational Blast From The Past
Here's what cookin' the weekend of Sept. 17 through Sept. 19.
By the looks of it, it will be a quiet weekend in Potomac with warm weather perfect for taking a stroll through the neighborhood. Here are some of my recommendations for fun events this weekend around the area. Let me know what you're doing and send me pictures of your favorite events!
What brings on the feeling of fall more than gathering around campfire, roasting marshmallows and enjoying apples? On Friday evening, enjoy the Apple Festival and Campfire from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Lane in Rockville. Space is limited, so call before you go. If driving to Rockville doesn't seem like your cup of tea, make your own campfire and roast marshmallows, but don't forget about safety regulations and the required permit to do so.
On Saturday, focus on health and fitness at the Montgomery County Total Body Health Fair. The fair, which is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 950 Elm St. in Bethesda, will teach attendees about living a healthier lifestyle and way to achieve that. National health organizations, health care providers and community representatives will be there to give free tests and teach about how to improve healthy decision-making. Everyone says they need to be healthier and here is your opportunity to learn about ways to change!

Conjunction junction, what your function? That's right, on Sunday I recommend visiting the Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Rd in North Potomac, for a School House Rock live show at 2 p.m. Kids will love it, and — let's be honest — it's an opportunity to show off your own singing skills and instant recall of the legislative process, proper adverb usage and every conjunction known to man.
Enjoy the weekend and send me pictures of your own adventures!
