This Weekend: Midnight Madness, Campfires and 'The Mikado'

Churchill's Midnight Madness, campfires, crafts and performances are at the top of the list for this weekend's best bets.

On Friday, is kicking off basketball season with a bang at the From 8 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., Churchill Bulldog fans are invited to the school to start off girls and boys basketball season with music, contests, celebrity guests and giveaways.

This weekend could be the perfect time to snuggle up next to the campfire, so why not visit the ? From 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday the Locust Grove Nature Center is inviting people to come enjoy the outdoors and warm up by the fire.

If exercise is in the cards for you, consider participating in the on Saturday evening. The run, which begins at 5:45 p.m., will take runners through the "Winter Lights Festival" in Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg. The festival features more than 380 illuminated vignettes and 65 animated displays -- the perfect scenery for a fun run!

Sunday it could be the perfect opportunity to stop by the or see the Potomac Theatre Company's performance of -- both of which are events going on all weekend.

The in Gaithersburg goes from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is the perfect opportunity to enjoy food, arts and music. More than 250 art vendors will have sculptures, jewelry, pottery, photography and home decorations and there will also be live music, gourmet food and art demonstrations. 

The Potomac Theatre Company is beginning its on Thursday, Nov. 18, but shows continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next two weekends. The humorous Gilbert and Sullivan opera will have shows at Bullis School's Blair Family Center for the Arts.
