Thanksgiving, crime and winter road preparation have dominated the news in Potomac this week.
The week started off on Monday with information from the Montgomery County Police about the recovery of DNA that near Potomac in 1984. Police arrested Hubert Allan Marlin – a 53-year-old who has lived in Michigan and Oregon – in Bethesda on Nov. 21. Police reported they recovered evidence that linked Marlin to a rape that occurred near the intersection of Democracy Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda on Oct. 13, 1984.
On Tuesday, the Gaithersburg Police released information about their including one Potomac resident and a New Jersey congressman's chief of staff in the department's first online sex sting. The men were all charged with soliciting sex from a minor, a felony offense that carries a penalty of not more than 10 years in prison or a fine not exceeding $25,000, or both.

was a time for shopping — but not at the wee hours of the morning at Westfield Montgomery Mall. There were no lines at 4 a.m. when several stores opened for Black Friday doorbuster sales; however once more stores opened around 6 a.m., people flooded the majority of the stores which were open then.
