WSSC Power Outage Puts 2 MD Counties Under Essential Water Use Warning (patch.com) — Rockville residents are being asked to sharply cut water use after a power outage at WSSC Water's Potomac Water Filtration Plant triggered an essential-use-only warning for Montgomery and Prince George's counties. While drinking water remains safe and a boil advisory has been avoided for now, WSSC says the system must be refilled and stabilized and urges shorter showers, no outdoor watering, and limited toilet flushing and appliance use. The utility will keep customers updated until the restriction is lifted.

Rockville Ranks in the Top 2% of Small Cities in America According to Report (mocoshow.com) — Rockville has just been ranked among the top 30 small cities nationwide, placing in the 98th percentile in WalletHub's 2026 Best Small Cities report. The city scored especially well for education, health, and quality of life, while neighboring Montgomery County communities like Bethesda and Gaithersburg also earned strong showings.
   

3. Robberies, Burglaries, Auto Theft and Weapons Offense Included in September 28th Daily Summary (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police reported a daytime robbery in the 700 block of Rockville Pike, where a victim was assaulted and had property taken in the Rockville‑area 1st District. The same daily summary details a commercial burglary later on Rockville Pike and additional robberies, burglaries, auto theft, and a weapons offense in nearby districts, offering Rockville residents a clear snapshot of recent safety concerns.
   

4. Derwood Man Sentenced to 120 Years for Double Murder in Rockville, MD (news-usa.today) — A Derwood man has been sentenced to 120 years in prison for the 2025 shooting deaths of two people in Rockville, with the case tried in Montgomery County Circuit Court. Police traced the crime from a hotel parking lot on Research Court to a nearby intersection, ultimately arresting the suspect at the same Rockville hotel.
   

5. Suspected International Gold Thief Previously Arrested in Maryland Wanted in $8,000 Scam (mocoshow.com) — A man once accused of stealing thousands in gold from a Rockville coin shop on Rockville Pike is now wanted in Maine for an $8,000 gold artwork scam. Police say he and an accomplice allegedly used a cash‑switching trick, and investigators link them to similar gold thefts nationwide, underscoring ongoing risks for Rockville's jewelry and coin businesses.
