Water Shutoff Scheduled For Rockville This Month

The City of Rockville has announced that a water shutoff will take place on July 28, starting at 6 p.m. and continuing until 2 a.m.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Residents of the City of Rockville are being reminded that a water shutoff is planned for later this month.

A release issued by city states a temporary shut off will impact buildings located at 510, 650 and 700 Hungerford Drive, as well as 500 N. Washington St.

The shutdown will remain in place from 10 p.m. on July 28 to 6 a.m. on July 29. In the event of inclement weather the shutoff will be on a one-day delay.

"Residents may notice discolored water or air in the lines following the shutdown. Running cold water for a few minutes usually clears any discoloration," reads a statement.

"To remove air from the system, open a faucet on the top floor for one minute, then open other faucets one at a time from the highest floor to the lowest."

While water quality issues are expected to be resolved within 24 hours, officials say that anyone who continues to experience problems should contact authorities at (240) 314-8567.
