Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Car: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — A pedestrian was fatally hit by a car early Monday in Silver Spring.

Montgomery County Police said the deadly collision took place shortly after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street.

Officials identified the pedestrian as a 39-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene.

Authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed in the case or released any additional details identifying either party involved in the incident.

An investigation by the department's Collision Reconstruction Unit is ongoing.
