Teen Crashes Car Into MoCo Home After Hitting Off-Duty Officer: Police

A 15-year-old driver was taken into police custody after hitting an off-duty officer and then crashing into a home in Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police announced the arrest of a 15-year-old driver who crashed into a home in Silver Spring after colliding with an off-duty officer.

The department said the driver crashed into a home on the 12800 block of Bushey Drive. The teenager was taken into custody at the scene.

Police said two other individuals were inside the SUV when the crash occurred. The pair initially ran away from the scene but have since been identified. Neither will face charges.

The officer struck during the incident was not hospitalized, according to the department. No other injuries were reported.

Photos from the scene show that more than half of the car broke through the two-story home's brick exterior.

Emergency personnel with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service remained on the scene to help with the car's removal.

It's unclear if anyone was home when the car crashed into the residence.

An investigation remains ongoing.
