Watch: Police Cruisers Smashed During Illegal Car Rally
Two Montgomery Co. Police cruisers were seriously damaged over the weekend as officers responded to an illegal car rally in Chevy Chase.

BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE, MD — New footage released by the Montgomery County Police Department captures the moments in which cruisers sustained serious damage when responding to an illegal car rally in Chevy Chase.
The department, which released the footage late Monday, said two marked cars were damaged. One police cruiser had the rear window broken and the front windshield smashed.
Video released by the department shows individuals surrounding the car and spraying smoke to reduce visibility for officers.

At one point, at least two cars participating in the illegal car rally could be seen doing donuts around the police cruiser.
No officers were injured during the altercation.

The incident occurred as officers responded to the intersection of East West Highway and Connecticut Avenue on Sunday after 12:30 a.m.
Police were flagged for the incident after being alerted that "street takeover activity" initially reported in neighboring Prince George's County had moved toward the Silver Spring area.
The latest comes after two teenagers were arrested Saturday night, when eight illegal car rallies were shut down by police across Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Howard counties. Both teens were charged with gun possession and held at the Prince George's County Detention Center.
The joint weekend operation by police started at 10 p.m. Saturday and ran through 4 a.m. Sunday.
Montgomery County Police are urging anyone with information about the Sunday rally or the individuals involved to contact the department online or by calling 1-866-411-8477.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
