• Takoma Park Street Festival returns with music, art, and local vendors on Oct. 4 (mdstatewire.com) — Takoma Park's signature Street Festival returns this Sunday, Oct. 4, filling Carroll Avenue with nearly 200 local vendors, live music on three stages, and an expanded farmers market. Residents can browse handmade art, jewelry, decor, and specialty foods while many Takoma Park shops and restaurants spill onto the sidewalks to join the celebration.

• WSSC lifts essential water use advisory for MoCo residents (bethesdamagazine.com) — WSSC has lifted its essential-water-use-only request, meaning Takoma Park residents connected to the utility can resume normal water use after two days of conservation. A power issue at the Potomac filtration plant had threatened a possible boil-water advisory, but stable temporary repairs and customer cooperation kept supplies safe and adequate while crews work on a permanent fix.

• The Last Days of Mount Rainier's Urban Corn Silo (hyattsvillewire.com) — An unusual chapter in local environmental history is closing as Mount Rainier's urban corn silo, once paired with a pioneering corn-heating silo in Takoma Park, has been dismantled and sent back to a Mount Airy farm. The co-op that ran the silos showed how locally grown, pesticide-free corn once powered eco-friendly stoves before changing economics made the model unsustainable.
