Orchard Hill Rehab & Healthcare Welcomes Cardiologist Athol Morgan, MD, to Clinical Team

Orchard Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Towson has welcomed cardiologist Athol Morgan, MD, to its clinical leadership team; he is serving as director of the skilled nursing facility’s CardioPro cardiac rehabilitation specialty care program. Located at 111 West Road, the 134-bed center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. 

Board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Morgan is affiliated with LifeBridge Health System, serving as director of cardiology at Grace Medical Center. The Johns Hopkins-trained physician’s accolades include the American Heart Association's 2020 Watkins-Saunders Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations committed to equality in healthcare. 

“Dr. Morgan is well-respected for his specialization in cardiology and leadership acumen; Orchard Hill is fortunate to have him in this role,” said Jennifer Carnegie, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the center. “Dr. Morgan’s appointment further positions Orchard Hill as a preferred choice in the region, particularly in regard to cardiac care.”  

Orchard Hill’s cardiac rehab services focus on promoting independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart patients. The CardioPro model, which is available to Marquis Health Consulting Services clients, is designed to assist individuals suffering from challenging or life-threatening heart conditions, including those recovering from a cardiac event or surgical procedure, and those at risk for cardiovascular disease.   

In addition to consults with board certified specialists, Orchard Hill cardiac rehabilitation patients benefit from ACLS-certified nurses, 24/7 access to laboratory and radiology services, and a range of therapies, as prescribed. The program features comprehensive education and training for patients and their families.  

The Baltimore County center is an American Heart Association-certified Skilled Nursing Facility Heart Failure Center, which speaks to the quality of its physician-led Cardiopulmonary Care program. For heart patients, the program focuses on helping achieve the most active life possible despite any diagnoses and related physical limitations. The Heart Failure Center certification recognizes hospitals and healthcare facilities that provide high-quality care for patients with heart failure.
