Police Investigate 6th Killing of Pr. George's Student

Two Suitland High School students have been killed in shootings within two days, according to police. The most recent fatality, an 18-year-old shot Tuesday night, became the sixth student killed in Prince George's during the 2012-2013 school year.

The latest death came in a double shooting in Forestville that involved 18-year-old Andre Walter Shuford, who succumbed to his injuries and was pronouced dead Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Shuford was from the 3500 block of Pumphery Drive in Forestville. Shuford is a former Prince George's County Public Schools student, according to county schools spokesman Briant Coleman.

Police announced Wednesday that Aaron Burrell Kidd, 18, of the 3600 block of Melrose Avenue in District Heights, a student Suitland High School, was killed in the attack.

Police responded to the 3700 block of Donnell Drive at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday to find the two 18-year-olds shot in a parking lot. Kidd was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There was no indication that the shooting was connected to a shooting Monday of Suitland High School student Charles Walker Jr., according to McKinney.

Walker, 15, was fatally shot in a robbery that involved a pair of shoes he was carrying in a shopping bag, Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw said in a news conference Tuesday.

Walker, of the 4200 block of 28th Avenue in Hillcrest Heights, was found on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound after police were called to the 4100 block of 28th Avenue at around 4:20 p.m. for a welfare check.

Police said Walker was rushed to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Following Walker's death, Magaw shared developments in the investigation and offered his condolences to the teen's family in a news conference.

“When a senseless act of violence takes a young person’s life, this police department and our community grieve," he said.

In addition to the two Suitland High School students killed this week. Four other Prince George's County students have been shot and killed this school year.

Friendly High School student Marcus Antonio Jones, 16, was fatally shot in Fort Washington Jan. 20 after attending a party with rival gang members, according to police.

Marckel Norman Ross, an 18-year-old a junior at Central High School, was fatally shot while walking to school in Capitol Heights the morning of Sept. 11, 2012.

Amber Deanna Stanley, a 17-year-old senior at Charles H. Flowers High School in Springdale was fatally shot in her bedroom in Kettering on Aug. 23, 2012.

Eliezer Reyes, a 14-year-old student at the Foundation Schools in Largo, was was killed in a drive-by shooting December 2012 in Lewisdale; police have said the crime was gang related, The Washington Times reported.
